Trips & Season

One day.
Or three.

I — The Day

How it runs

I — Sun-up

On the grounds early

The boat is rigged before you step on it. Coffee is aboard, the gear is set, and the run out is short — the aim is to be on the fishing grounds at sun-up, ready for the first bite.

II — Through the day

Troll, drop, trap

Scotty downriggers out for springs and coho, heavy gear down for halibut and ling cod, and crab traps working while the rods do. Two guides on six anglers means the boat never stalls.

III — Run home

A box worth the trip

Catch iced, gear stowed, and — if you brought the food — a short shore lunch off the BBQ somewhere along the way. On a two or three-day trip, you do it all again tomorrow.

II — Trip Lengths

Book the days you need

Trips run one, two or three days. A 25% deposit based on the length of the trip holds your dates at the time of booking.

One day

A full guided day on the water. Best if you are already in the area and the forecast looks settled.

Two days

Two tides, two weather windows. If day one blows out, day two usually delivers — which is why most groups book at least two.

Three days

Salmon, bottom fish and crab in one trip. Enough time to fish the whole area properly instead of picking one thing and hoping.

Rates are per day regardless of trip length. See the rate card →

III — The Season

When to come

The best times are from mid-May to mid-September. Within that, each species has its own window.

Overall best fishing

Mid-May to mid-September

The core season — everything is in play.

Springs (chinook)

Early spring to mid-July

The early-season target, and the one people plan trips around.

Coho

Early July to September

Coho seem to be best from early July right through September.

Halibut & ling cod

All year — best early April and May

Bottom fish thrive around Prince Rupert year-round. A dedicated bottom-fish trip in April or May has to be booked in advance.

Dungeness crab

Alongside any trip

Crab pullers are aboard, so traps work while the rods do.
